Spacer Day Time Cruises
On reaching Deep Cove at the head of Doubtful Sound, you can board the spacious catamaran, Patea Explorer, for a three hour cruise which takes in the most dramatic scenery of Doubtful Sound.
Alternatively, if you prefer smaller groups, there are plenty of other operators with smaller and more intimate boats which will be able to provide you with a longer and more thorough cruise of the Sounds.
Your guides will be on hand to point out highlights. Bottle-nose dolphins frequently cavort alongside your vessel; fur seals bask on the rocks at the mouth of the fiord and rare penguins can often be observed.

Spacer How to Get There
Manapouri is the departure point for all cruises on Doubtful Sound. Manapouri is some 20 kilometres travel from Te Anau and can also be reached by coach connection from Queenstown.
From Manapouri, Doubtful Sound is reached after a cruise on the crystal clear waters of Lake Manapouri.
Then it is over the Wilmot Pass road, stopping along the way to experience some of Fiordland’s densest rainforest and to view the colourful alpine moss gardens.
At Deep Cove, the head of Doubtful Sound, you will be transferred onto your launch for a cruise of the Sounds.
