Spacer Doubtful Sound - The Sound of Silence
Coined the ’Sound of Silence’ Doubtful Sound is the deepest of Fiordland’s 13 fiords. Virtually untouched by man, its cascading waterfalls and serene, brooding atmosphere is quite simply, breathtaking.
A cruise on Doubtful sound is a journey into a land of mist and mystery.
This is a primeval wonderland.

Spacer Day Time Cruises
On reaching Deep Cove at the head of Doubtful Sound, you can board the spacious catamaran, Patea Explorer, for a three hour cruise which takes in the most dramatic scenery of Doubtful Sound.
Alternatively, if you prefer smaller groups, there are plenty of other operators with smaller and more intimate boats which will be able to provide you with a longer and more thorough cruise of the Sounds.
Your guides will be on hand to point out highlights. Bottle-nose dolphins frequently cavort alongside your vessel; fur seals bask on the rocks at the mouth of the fiord and rare penguins can often be observed.
Coach Connections are available from Te Anau and Queenstown to Manapouri - the departure point for your Doubtful Sound cruise.

Spacer Evening Cruises
Discover the unspoiled and remote wilderness of Doubtful Sound during a unique overnight adventure.
You will cruise throughout the fiord and there’s plenty of time to explore at your own pace.
Kayak around the shoreline or walk along deserted beaches - the choice is yours. Don’t forget to keep a look out for wildlife.
All Doubtful Sound operators have an overnight cruise option. All your meals will be provided and you don’t have to worry about taking extra equipment.

Spacer How to Get There
Manapouri is the departure point for all cruises on Doubtful Sound. Manapouri is some 20 kilometres travel from Te Anau and can also be reached by coach connection from Queenstown.
From Manapouri, Doubtful Sound is reached after a cruise on the crystal clear waters of Lake Manapouri.
Then it is over the Wilmot Pass road, stopping along the way to experience some of Fiordland’s densest rainforest and to view the colourful alpine moss gardens.
At Deep Cove, the head of Doubtful Sound, you will be transferred onto your launch for a cruise of the Sounds.
